![]() EnArts is a new, professional performing arts organization with a purpose: “moving hearts toward God through the arts.” Introducing itself to the KC Arts community, EnArts presents its first major production, a play called The Toymaker and Me, written and directed by Kansas City’s own Marc Wayne (www.marcwayne.com), a multi-talented professional artist for over 30 years. Among his many accomplishments, Marc used to dance for the contemporary Christian artist Carman. The Toymaker and Me tells the story of a precocious young orphan girl, who, in spite of her many setbacks, is determined to find love and acceptance in a new home; and of a cranky old toymaker who lost his “spark” for life when his wife and unborn child died during childbirth (10 years prior). When these two unique personalities come together, we experience the discovery of our true value and rediscover that life is worth living —in spite of the dark valleys we sometimes have to journey through. Paraphrasing Paris, one of the characters in the play: When a gift meets a need, sparks fly and life happens. In Marc Wayne’s The Toymaker and Me, that life comes in surprisingly moving ways. “I can’t wait to see this story,” Marc said in an interview about the show. “Every time I tell it, I get so excited about the beauty and the grandeur of it. All the color and the richness of each of the characters . . .” Show dates are November 17, 18, 22, and 23 at the Vineyard Church (www.vineyardkcnorth.com) in the Kansas City Northland (to purchase tickets, click here). The Toymaker and Me is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. The story reminds us that even though it can go undiscovered or be extinguished, everyone has a spark that makes them something special. The bringing together of that gift and a life-pressing need ignites the very presence of God. EnArts is planning several events for 2017, culminating in the premiere of a new musical based on the Bible book of Ruth called Sweet Dreams: The Biblical Story of Naomi and Ruth.
